This Paleo Egg Roll in a Bowl has all the flavors of an egg roll, but easier and healthier! Whole30, gluten free, dairy free, and a delicious lunch or dinner.
I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought how easy it would be to make paleo and I was right. A couple easy swaps and not only is it paleo, but Whole30 as well! All the flavors of an egg roll but none of the work of rolling them? Yes, please!
This meal is so easy, full of veggies, and delicious! I like to do all the chopping ahead of time so the dish comes together even quicker. Use the biggest skillet or wok that you have- it will make it cook much faster. This meal makes a lot and leftovers are just as good, making it great for meal prep!
Sweet and Sour Sauce for topping
An egg roll isn't complete without a Paleo Sweet and Sour Sauce- so I made a homemade version that is sweetened only with fruit and so good. It goes perfectly with this savory dish. It's really pulls the bowl together to help it feel like the real deal.
If you love egg rolls dipped in sauce, then you will love this paleo egg roll in a bowl. Easier and just as tasty!
A couple other Asian-inpired dishes that we love- Paleo Orange Chicken, Paleo Chicken and Broccoli, and Paleo Thai Chicken.

Why don’t all these delicious looking Paleo dishes come with nutrients listed. What are the calories, carbs, sodium, fat, sugar etc., content?
Jessica DeMay says
Hi Trish- I create, make, take pictures, edit pictures, write out the recipe and text for every recipe. It takes hours to create just 1 recipe and I don't have time to also figure out all the nutrition facts. A lot of time people substitute ingredients anyway so it wouldn't necessarily be accurate. And also, I don't believe in counting calories. Eating real food that is nutrient dense is the most important. I understand there are some people with diet restrictions for certain reasons, but counting calories just to count calories isn't the healthiest. You can use a site like My Fitness Pal to help you calculate that if you have that desire. I hope that answers your question.

This is a winner! It was super delicious. I linked to it in my whole30 meal plan. Thanks for making an exceptional recipe! http://www.realfoodiefamily.com/free-whole30-meal-plan-grocery-list-week-2/

I love this recipe. After making it several times, I have made a few substitutions. I use a bag of Trader Joe's Broccoli Slaw in place of half of the cabbage. I add some shredded carrot, even though the broccoli slaw has some in it. I cook the ground meat first and then add it back at the end. This ensures the meat is done ans the veggies are not over cooked. ( I use ground chicken) I also like to add some celery. With or without the changes, great recipe! Thanks!

You're welcome, Paula! Thanks for trying my recipe, I'm so glad you like it! I love your substitutions- sounds delicious!
Kyla says
This looks great! Any recommendations or modifications for preparing this vegetarian style? Additional veggies that might replace flavor missing without the meat? Thanks in advance.
Jessica DeMay says
Thanks, Kyla! I don't think you need to change it at all except leave the meat out. There are so many veggies that no more are needed. Hope that helps and hope you love it!

This sounds incredible!! The fish oil swap for sesame seed oil that one person suggested sounds intriguing!
Jessica DeMay says
Thanks, Jenny! I agree- I bet that adds another level of flavor!
Sarah @ cookathome.info says
Made it as part of my Whole30 and the whole family loved it! I browned the pork first, removed it from the pan, then added the veggies and cooked until they were tender, then added the coconut aminos and pork back in ... and some spinach because I can't serve a dish without some greens! So yummy!
Jessica DeMay says
Thanks for trying my recipe, Sarah! I'm so glad you liked it 🙂 I love that you added spinach- what a great idea!
Camille says
Hey! Is there a substitute you can use instead of sesame oil? I thought Paleo diets restricted the consumption of seed oils.
Jessica DeMay says
Hi Camille- you can use another oil if you want, like more coconut oil. It's only 2 tablespoons and adds a lot of flavor. I hope you try it!

Just made this for dinner using ground turkey. My husband loved it. Gave it five stars! Had to make in two batches because I didn't have a big enough pan. Next time we'll try ground pork and the Instant Pot.
Jessica DeMay says
Thanks for trying my recipe, Deb! I'm so glad your husband liked it 🙂 Yes, it does make a lot and I had to use my biggest pan! Oh, I love the idea of using the Instant Pot! I'll have to try that next time 🙂 Thanks for the great feedback!
Claire says
I just made this for a Whole 30 dinner and it was SO GOOD! I used half the amount of ground pork though. I also topped with a modified recipe - Whole 30 compliant "Japanese. steakhouse Mayo" sauce and it was all so good. I will make this again even off Whole 30!!!!
Jessica DeMay says
Thanks for trying me recipe, Claire! I'm so glad you like it and plan on making it again. Thanks for the great feedback!
