Brown Butter Rice Crispy Treats

  • Line a 9x9 square pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Measure the crispy rice cereal into a large bowl.
  • Heat butter in a large pot over medium-low heat until nutty brown in color. About 4 ½ to 5 minutes. You'll see a definite change- it will go from bubbling and noisy to foaming and quiet. As soon as it goes quiet, take it off the heat. I stir with a whisk regularly to prevent burning. As soon as it goes quiet, add the marshmallows and stir until fully combined. You want to make sure the butter and marshmallow are mixed and there is no extra butter left over.
  • Once mixture is smooth, pour over the rice crispies and mix until evenly coated. Pour into prepare pan and let cool for about an hour. Cut into squares and serve.
